Throughout the year, St Richard’s hosts occasional courses aimed at helping people with different aspects of life and faith. Our ultimate vision is simply to see lives flourish. Some courses simply offer space to ask questions. Others give practical support and advice for the challenges we all face.
We don’t offer these course because we think we know better, but because everyone benefits from the space to talk, listen, think and share. Just as a golfer has to practice their swing to be able to play a good round of golf, why should life be any different?
To find out when we’re running the next course that’s of interest to you, please do get in touch.
CAP Money Course
A revolutionary money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that really works. This course helps anyone to get more in control of their finances, so they can save, give and prevent debt. The course is devised by the award-winning debt counselling charity, Christians Against Poverty.
We run the CAP Money Course about once a year over three evenings (usually in early summer).
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each starts with a meal, includes a video presentation or talk and the chance for every member to share their views. The course addresses different questions around life and faith and is designed to create conversation.
Over 24 million people have tried Alpha in over 100 countries. Developed as a short course at HTB, a church in London, Alpha now runs in every part of the global church. You can find out more about it here.
We run Alpha about once a year over 8 to 12 evenings (usually January to March).
The Happiness Course
Everyone wants to be happy… yet what exactly is happiness? What enables us to grow in it? Is happiness really what we should aim for, or does it come as a by-product of something deeper?
The Happiness Course aims to grow well-being and build community by exploring attitudes to happiness. Each session offers discussion, films and exercises and empowers people to make positive choices that lead to real change in their lives. The course was written by Livability and draws from leading thinkers in the fields of positive psychology and personal development.
We run The Happiness Course about once a year.
Being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also one of its biggest challenges. There’s hardly a mum or dad who hasn’t, at some time, felt a little overwhelmed by the task of parenting.
St Richard’s has offered a variety of parenting courses in recent years, as a way of supporting parents, allowing us all to share the good points and the struggles, and to gain new insights and approaches to parenting.
Most recently we’ve run Parentalk: The Primary Years, from Care for the Family - a course for parents of children aged up to the early teenage years. Parentalk is suitable for parents from all different backgrounds and family structures.
